MAIA promotes, locally and internationally, the values of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, valuing the traditions and cultural values of each population through international cooperation. MAIA works for the improvement of the living conditions of all human beings, particularly in developing countries.
MAIA is the awareness that in order of changing the things for real, good will alone is not enough, as they are not the time and energy that you invest: you need a human feeling, a way to stand committed, a capacity to see beyond, to overcome obstacles and barriers, limits and personal contingencies. MAIA lives, grows, is fighting for a feeling of active participation with the Other.
MAIA is commitment; deeply respects the community that meets and its cooperation partners; collects economic resources, means and skills for the various projects, supporting the development of local economy. It is realized through the enhancement of technical and professional skills, the research of grants and donations from both private and institutional characters. The dream is to create a sustainable growth through relations among human beings.
MAIA realizes free cooperation, released by the West imperialist paradigms: we start from the assumption that there is no absolute right model, a method suitable for everyone, but there may be new strategies to be adopted, each for different reality of the planet.
MAIA is human relativism, native awakening, where good intentions go hand in hand with a good working method.
MAIA does not exist without sustainability. Therefore the cooperation plan is never an end in itself, does not appear ephemeral, temporary, fleeting, but it looks like a constructive and lasting program for and with the local community: we look at the local partner as an actor and recipient of the work . Unlike some assistance-cooperation methods, ours is equal, sympathetic , humane. Real. It assumes that there is no community of first or second degree, but only communities with different resources, capabilities and potentialities.
MAIA operates in areas with particular economic and social difficulties , where sustainability becomes formation, evolution within the reality itself, through local actors able to meet the needs of their own society and their people in an autonomous and proactive way.
